Welcome back to another installation of On My Nails This Week! This is a new series where I essentially try a new nail art look or technique or new products every week and share with you here! Be sure to check out last week’s OMNTW post if you missed it!
On My Nails This Week: Inky Flowers!
For this week’s look, I tried some new nail art inks that I recently ordered! I’ve used these before for some random designs and I’ve been dying to try a floral look and I think these turned out SOO cool. Not going to lie, I practiced with these inks for a while on press ons before I was happy with how they turned out. I’d say there are pretty much infinite ways to use inks, but I think I’ve discovered a method that I really like for flowers at least for now!

You can also use inks for nuance nails, fruits, blobs, other plants, clouds, marbles, smokes — really the options are endless! I just really like how you can manipulate the ink if you want it to fade in and out, and it has a very sheer, almost watercolor paint effect to it!
The one thing I learned about with these inks (specifically the kokoist ones, I’m not sure if this is true of ALL inks ever), is that a little goes a longggg way! I would recommend only using a tiny tiny bit of ink and then diffusing it, instead of trying to draw the shape you want precisely with the ink. Stay tuned for the tutorial at the end for way more instruction on how I did this but essentially, this is where I started and where I got at the end! I love a good transformation.

I think these would look really pretty on a colored or milky white base too, but the chrome + matte top coat combo almost gave my nails a milky base effect which I really liked! It definitely helped the ink pop more.
Here are the products I used:
My base is Kokoist Platinum Filler Builder Base
Aurora Chrome (I used #3) - I am so obsessed with this chrome right now!
Pointed Brush: Kokoist Brush / Amazon Brush
90% Isopropyl Alcohol (I usually get mine from target or safeway!)
